The 2nd annual Oakfield Box Car Derby was held on Bennett Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
A total of 25 kids participated with 21 kids in the 7–10-year-old age group, and 4 kids in the 11–13-year-old age group.
Winners in the 11–13-year-old group:
Cody Pangrazio(above)- 1st place/$100/with dad Joshua Pangrazio-this is the second year in a row Cody has taken 1st place. Cody won’t discuss his secret to winning the event two years in a row, he says his dad helped him with the car. First place winners also receive one free pizza a month from Santino’s
Forest Franklin (below)-2nd place/with his dad Rich Kasner and organizer Scott D’Alba

August Rindell (center)- 1st place- August says he went through 5 races to claim the top prize. His mom Rachel says the car was a pre painted car with a lengthy winning past, dating back to the 90s. First place winners also receive one free pizza a month from Santino’s

The event was held in memory of Suzanne “Sue” D’Alba, who was one of the founders of the Oakfield Betterment Committee and the Oakfield Labor Daze festival, as well as a volunteer and member of many other civic organizations.
The Oakfield Box Car Derby Association hopes to one day fund a small scholarship in her honor for a graduating student going to trade school.
