The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a one vehicle property damage rollover accident that occurred at 6218 Rt. 63 on at 4:49p.m. Monday afternoon.
Deputies say Craig M. Meyer, 39, of Basom, NY, was traveling at an unsafe speed and struck a road closed sign and then overcorrected. His 1992 Jeep rolled over three times, ejecting him from the vehicle. Meyer came to rest 30 feet away from his vehicle on the north side of the road. Meyer was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious injuries.
According to Sgt. Andrew Hale, not wearing a seat belt and being ejected saved the driver’s life in this case, as there was significant damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The driver was conscious and alert when transported via Mercy Flight to ECMC.
