The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jospeh Leroy Jones, 40, of Baltimore, Maryland, following a traffic stop in the hamlet of Varysburg for aggravated unlicensed operation.
Deputies on patrol observed a vehicle allegedly speeding well above the posted speed limit and conducted a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, it was found Jones was currently suspended in New York
State for failing to pay a driver’s assessment.
Jones was arrested and issued citations for speed in zone and aggravated unlicensed operation
3rd degree with a return date of September 16, 2024 in the Town of Sheldon Court

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested James D. Quinn, 36, following a traffic stop
in the Town of Sheldon for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration.
Deputies on patrol were alerted to a vehicle being operated while the registration was currently
suspended for parking violations suspension – 5 Tickets/Notices of Suspension withing 12 months. The vehicle was observed east on Route 20A in the Hamlet of Varysburg and a traffic stop was conducted. An investigation found the vehicle was currently suspended.
Quinn was arrested and issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended
registration. Quinn will answer the charges on September 16th, 2024 at 6:30pm in the
Town of Sheldon Court

On August 15, 2024, at approximately 9:10pm, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to
the intersection of Route 20A and Route 238 in the Town of Orangeville for a two-car motor
vehicle crash.
After speaking with one of the vehicle operators, Gary Johnson, 68, of Mount Rest, South Carolina, deputies recognized alleged signs of impairment from alcohol. Johnson was asked to perform
field sobriety testing, which he performed poorly on.
Johnson was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he provided a breath sample of .12% BAC. Johnson was also found to be in possession of two unregistered handguns.
Johnson was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, driving with a .08% BAC or
higher, Unregistered Pistol, along with other VTL infractions.
Johnson was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in Orangeville Town Court on September 4, 2024

Following a traffic stop for a speeding violation (73/55) on Route 63 in the Town of
Covington, Zachary T. Ripley, 21, of Niagara Falls NY, was arrested and charged with aggravated
unlicensed operation in the second degree. Ripley allegedly had a suspended identification card and nine suspensions on five dates.
Ripley was processed roadside and given an appearance ticket for his charges, and is due back in the Town of Covington Court on 08/26/24

On August 1, 2024, at approximately 8:21pm, a deputy with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s
Office conducted a traffic stop after observing a violation of the New York State Vehicle and
Traffic Law on North Main Street in the Village of Warsaw.
The vehicle operator was identified as Phil Lafreniere, 30, of Warsaw, NY. While speaking with Lafreniere, the deputy observed signs of possible intoxication and a roadside DWI investigation was conducted, which included the performance of standardized field sobriety testing.
Lafreniere allegedly performed poorly on the testing and was subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, as well as additional Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations. Lafreniere was processed at the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and issued an appearance ticket, returnable to the Village of Warsaw Court at a later date

On August 1st, 2024, at around 11:46pm, a deputy with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office
was patrolling westbound on West Buffalo Street, in the Village of Warsaw, when another
vehicle was observed also traveling westbound. A random registration check revealed the
vehicle’s registration was suspended for an insurance lapse and a vehicle and traffic enforcement
stop was conducted on West Buffalo Street near Brad Street.
Simone S. Martin, 50, of Brooklyn, NY was identified as the driver of the vehicle and was
subsequently arrested and charged with Driving a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration.
Martin was processed roadside and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Warsaw Village Court at a later date.

On July 31st, 2024, at around 5:26am, a deputy with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office was
conducting stationary patrol on Route 77 near Centerline Road, in the Town of Sheldon,
when a vehicle pulled up next to the patrol vehicle and made a suspicious vehicle complaint
regarding a vehicle that had just passed the deputy northbound and turned west onto Centerline
Road.
The suspicious vehicle was then located and observed turning around and traveling back towards
Route 77. The deputy followed the vehicle and observed the vehicle turn north onto
Route 77 from Centerline Road and travel northbound in the southbound lane for roughly 200
yards.
A vehicle and traffic enforcement stop was conducted just north of Centerline Road and
the driver was identified as Octavio Lopez Santiz, 25, of Springfield, Ohio.
While interviewing Lopez Santiz, the deputy believed he was under the influence and conducted
a roadside DWI investigation, which included standardized field sobriety testing. Following
standardized field sobriety testing, Lopez Santiz was arrested and transported to the Wyoming
County Sheriff’s Office where he submitted to a Datamaster DMT Breath Test, which showed
Lopez Santiz’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit.
Lopez Santiz was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, driving with a BAC of .08% of greater, Failure to Keep Right, Improper Left Turn and Consuming Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. Lopez Santiz was processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Sheldon Town Court at a later date.
