On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, join the Letchworth Central School District staff, administration, friends and family for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the new Letchworth Innovation Center, located at 5550 School Road, Gainesville, NY. The ribbon cutting will take place at 6:30PM. This state-of-the-art learning space is the result of years of planning and the community’s support, as our students embrace the opportunities offered in this highly engaging, hands-on learning environment.
This new learning space incorporates a Makerspace and Robotics lab, 3-D printing lab, Welding/Metals Shop and Wood Shop. State of the art equipment include a CNC Plasma Cutter, CNC Router, Foundry and Forge. All the other major components of a hands-on learning environment are part of this area. (welding booths, paint booths, band saws, lathe, electronics, etc…) The vision of this space was to offer all students opportunities to explore avenues for learning within the trades and performance-based learning. This will fit nicely with the new pathways of graduation measures coming from NYS. Science, Technology, Engineering, Ag/Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) are all priorities within this curriculum. Real life skills such as work ethic, collaboration and creativity can be explored and nurtured within these classes.
“Letchworth has an ongoing commitment to the growth of agriculture and expanding technology within our community. We realize that it is vital to have students ready for whatever they choose after graduation. Whether it be going immediately into the workforce, on to college, trade school or the military, we need our students to be prepared,” said Todd Campbell, Superintendent of Letchworth Central School District. “This is another aspect to the overall learning process that is essential for all students. Thank you to the entire community that made this all possible. We are proud of what we can offer our students and we value your support.”
Weather permitting, attendees will meet outside, near the large “L” logo next to the High School gym facing the new addition. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. (Tours of the space are available prior to the ribbon cutting, please arrive early starting at 5:30pm).
