On September 22, 2024, following an investigation, Anthony E. Parks was arrested and charged with Criminal possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds.

Parks, a student at Genesee Community College, allegedly possessed an unregistered loaded
pistol with a high-capacity magazine while at College Village Student Housing, that being a
building and property used for educational purposes.

Genesee Community College Campus Safety made aware of the situation after a report was made to them regarding a social media post allegedly depicting Parks with what appeared to be a handgun. There was no information developed during the investigation indicating that Parks had made any threats
regarding using the handgun.

Parks was arraigned at Genesee County CAP court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $5,000 dollars bond.

The incident was investigated by Deputy Rachael Diehl, Investigator Erik Andre, assisted Community
College Campus Safety.

  1. Why would you report this as on School Grounds other than to instill fear and confusion throughout the community thinking that their children were in danger while at school.
This was on a College Campus not at any public school . Although serious in nature your reporting is misleading at best

    • Candace Gail Bower

Thousands of students attend GCC. It was.not misleading. There are HS seniors who also attend here

    • Why would GCC tell all the students?
      1. To warn other students that actions have consequences
      2. To make students more aware about the gun safety rules on campus grounds
      3. To enforce students safety
There is no confusion, there was in fact danger, his gun was loaded with an auto magazine. That’s not just a regular handgun anymore that’s an assault weapon. Yes GCC is not a public school but still a school and it’s also a community college which means it’s not hard for anyone to be accepted into the school. There have been over 25 school shootings in America in only the month of September. All of the students are already scared and I have personally heard people I’ve never talked to talking about what they would do if a shooting was to happen, it’s a very scary topic but us students are still going to college trying to make a difference in our lives even though we know we could be next any day..

  2. Collage village is NOT GCC campus grounds please correct your article
