In a resolution passed by the Town of Batavia Town Board on Wednesday evening, the portion of Park Road from Veteran’s Memorial Drive to Richmond Avenue will be officially designated as the Sgt. Tom Sanfratello Memorial Parkway.
The Town Board was looking to honor and recognize Sargent Thomas A. Sanfratello who served and protected the citizens of Genesee County as a Deputy Sheriff for 28 years and tragically gave his life in the line of duty on March 10, 2024.
The Town will construct and install a sign at 145 Park Road, a residential apartment unit located on a parcel of land in the City of Batavia. The sign, which will have a width of 24 inches and a depth of 48 inches with 4-inch lettering will be located approximately three (3) feet from the edge of the existing sidewalk.
Town Board members Patti Michalak and Chad Zambito have been working on the project obtaining permissions from Genesee Valley Rural Preservation Council, Inc., and Genesee Park Place Associates, owners/operators of the property and hope to unveil the sign after presenting a Proclamation to the family of Sgt Sanfratello in mid-November.
