BAILEY POPS 799 IN BRIGHTON SECURITIES LEAGUE

Chris Bailey of Batavia came “oh so close” to his first 800 series – posting a 799 set in the Brighton Securities Tuesday Triples League at Mancuso Bowling Center.

His only open frame was a washout in the 10th frame of the first game, a miss than eventually cost him the 800 series. The big night raised his average to 215 after five weeks.

FOX TO TELEVISE PBA ‘STRIKE DERBY’ ON OCT. 27

The PBA Elite League Strike Derby – a race against time to see how many strikes can be rolled – will be televised on FOX at 2:30 p.m. next Sunday, Oct. 27.

Eight players were selected through a fan vote to compete in the head-to-head event, with the bracket as follows:

— No. 1 Chris Via (defending champion) vs. No. 8 Arturo Quintero (host center selection).
— No. 4 Andrew Anderson (47 strikes in PBA Elite League regular season) vs. No. 5 EJ Tackett (43 strikes)
— No. 2 Packy Hanrahan (50 strikes) vs. No. 7 Jesper Svensson (34 strikes)
— No. 3 Jason Belmonte (47 strikes) vs. No. 6 Kyle Troup (39 strikes)

Each player will have two minutes to throw as many strikes as possible and the player with the most strikes will advance. Ties will be broken by a one-ball roll-off. The winner of the non-title event will receive $30,000.

The event was taped during the PBA Elite League presented by Snickers Playoffs at Bayside Bowl in Portland, Maine.
