WYOMING COUNTY/Faulty wood stove vent pipe causes fire and damage to home in Castile

Six fire companies responded to a reported house fire at 4598 Rt. 39 in the Town of Castile on Saturday morning, November 30, 2024, about 11:30a.m.

According to Wyoming County Office of Emergency Service, a faulty wood stove vent pipe caused significant damage to the home. Estimated damages are $20,000. No one was injured in the fire.

Fire crews from Castile, Bliss, Gainesville, Perry, Silver Springs and Perry Center were on scene for about 1.5 hours along with Perry Ambulance Wyoming County Emergency Services and Wyoming County Buildings and Codes.
