GENESEE COUNTY/Medina man charged with assault and menacing school staff with an air pistol at Alexander Schools

On December 4th, 2024, at approximately 6:02p.m., the Genesee County Dispatch center received a 911 call of a disturbance in the parking lot at the Alexander Central School in Alexander, NY.

It is alleged that a male was assaulting a female during a physical domestic situation in the parking lot of the Alexander Central School. When school staff attempted to intervene, the male half pulled out what appeared to be a handgun and menaced staff. Law Enforcement quickly arrived on scene and took the male into custody without further incident.

After further investigation, the handgun was a C02 air pistol that was allegedly used by the male identified as Tyler J. Bull, age 22, of Medina, NY. Bull was arrested on several charges and taken to the Genesee County Jail where he was held for arraignment.

Bull is charged with strangulation 2nd degree/obstructing breathing/blood circulation, a class D felony, assault 3rd degree/with intent to cause physical injury, and criminal possession of a weapon 4th with intent to use. (charges listed on Mobile Patrol App)

The female victim was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained during
the altercation.

The incident is being investigated by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the NYS Troopers, Batavia PD, and Attica PD. At this time, the altercation was an isolated incident and there are no concerns for the safety of staff or student body in the Alexander Central District.
