BATAVIA/Driver located and charged in hit and run car/pedestrian accident on East Main Street

On 12/10/2024, at approximately 5:11 PM, Batavia Police were dispatched to a hit-and-run car/pedestrian motor vehicle accident on East Main Street near the Mobile gas station.

Officers arrived and located an injured male in the roadway. The male was transferred to Strong and is in satisfactory condition.

Through investigation, detectives were able to determine that Jeffrey Plath, 60, of Stringham Drive, Batavia, NY, was allegedly the operator of the vehicle.

On 12/11/2024, Plath was located on Harvester Avenue and taken into custody. Upon his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a switchblade knife but did not use or threaten to use it.

Plath is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Leaving the scene of an injury accident.

Plath was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released on his own recognizance.
