The Sanfratello family spoke to media after the sentencing of Micheal Elmore in Genesee County Court on December 17th, 2024. Ian, Lexi, and Kyla Sanfratello shared their thoughts about missing their dad, Deputy Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello, after leaving the courtroom filled with area law enforcement who showed up in support of the Sanfratello family.

Elmore during sentencing on December 17, 2024
Elmore was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 5 years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty to Aggravated Manslaughter 1st degree, a class B felony, and obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor on November 18th.
Sgt. Sanfratello’s children spoke to the court before sentencing, expressing their feelings of loss over the past 9 months
Elmore read a letter to Judge Donald O’Geen before sentencing, apologizing and asking for forgiveness for his actions, which he said was an accident while he was drunk. He expressed that he was deeply sorry.
Before sentencing, Judge O’Geen told Elmore he has a history of non compliance. Elmore had 6 prior convictions, two being felonies before the March 10, 2024 incident at Batavia Downs.
“You just won’t do what you are told, your history shows you’re a tough guy and a bully, you don’t get what you want you become belligerent. This was clearly an intent to assault a police officer. You not only harmed a family, but you also destroyed a family.”
Lyndsey Wilcox pleaded guilty to Assault 2nd degree in November and was released. She will be sentenced in January.
