Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of Vanessa Yanno, 32, of Perry, NY who is charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
On December 24, 2024, the Perry Police Department was advised by dispatchers to perform a welfare check at a residence on Lake Street after a woman had allegedly left her children in an apartment. The woman was reported as entering her vehicle in the parking lot and leaving her residence while the children were not supervised.
Upon arrival, the Perry Police Department knocked on the door to her residence several times and announced their presence and received no contact from an individual inside the residence. While knocking on the door to the residence the Perry Police Department observed Yanno entering the parking lot and returning to her residence.
According to the Perry Police Department, Yanno allegedly left her children unsupervised, and the children were both under the age of five years old.
The Perry Police Department placed Yanno under arrest charging her with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor. Yanno will appear in Perry Village Court on January 7, 2025, at 1:00pm.
