WYOMING COUNTY/Perry Police Report/Man facing felony assault charge after incident at the Perry Vets Club

Perry, NY – Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of a Perry resident after an investigation by the Perry Police Department.  

On January 1, 2025, the Perry Police Department was dispatched to the Perry Vets Club for a report of a person that was found unconscious in the driveway. Officers arrived on scene and located the victim who was lying in the driveway and appeared to be severely injured. The victim was then transported to a Strong Memorial Hospital.  

Further investigation revealed that the victim was allegedly thrown over a railing while exiting the Vets Club. The alleged suspect then jumped over the railing and landed on the victim’s head. The suspect then continued to punch the victim in the face several times rendering the victim unconscious.   

On January 4, 2025, at around 10:00a.m., the Perry Police Department arrested the alleged suspect, David J. Rowland, no age provided, of Perry, NY. Rowland is charged with Assault 1st degree, a class B felony. Rowland was arraigned in Perry Village Court in front of Judge Tammy Kesley and was committed to the Wyoming County Jail on the District Attorney’s Office bail recommendation of $100,000 cash, $200,000 bond, or $400,000 partially secured.

Rowland was issued a return court date of February 11, 2025 at 1:00p.m.
