WYOMING COUNTY/Bennington/Homeowner treated for smoke inhalation after a wood stove vent pipe overheated

Four fire companies responded to 3 Rt. 354 in Bennington for a reported house fire on Tuesday afternoon about 12:55p.m.

Cowlesville, Bennington, Alden and Marilla Fire Departments were on scene for about 2 hours along with Wyoming County Emergency Management.

According to Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, an overheated wood stove vent pipe was the cause of the smoke in the residence. The owner of the home was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. The residence suffered $15,000 in damages and the occupants were able to remain living in their home.
