WYOMING COUNTY/Three occupants escape burning home in Perry, one occupant pronounced dead at the scene

One man is dead, and three others escaped the burning home at 6 Fruit Street with smoke inhalation and burns on Friday morning. All three were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

First arriving firefighters reported a working house fire at 7:19a.m. Three occupants of the home were able to escape from the burning home on their own, and one person was trapped in the home.

Firefighters conducted a primary search, located the victim and removed him from the home where life saving measures were performed.

According to Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services, all the occupants in the home at the time of the fire were adults. The cause of the fire was careless smoking.

Fire crews were on scene for 3-1/2 hrs. Estimated damages are $60,000.

Fire crews from Perry, Perry Center, Castile, Silver Springs, Warsaw, Mt. Morris, and Pavilion responded to the scene, along with Wyoming and Livingston County EMS, Wyoming County Emergency Management, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, Perry Police Department, Perry DPW, and NYSEG
