GENESEE COUNTY/Town of Batavia GOP endorses Post for supervisor, DiSalvo for clerk

Amy DiSalvo, right, speaks with Town of Batavia Council member Patti Michalak and Town Republican Committee Treasurer Paul Marchese on Wednesday night after receiving the committee’s endorsement for the town clerk position, which will be on the ballot in November of this year.

Press release:

The Town of Batavia Republican Committee on Wednesday night threw its support behind Gregory Post for another term as supervisor.

“I truly appreciate the endorsement and pledge to continue to operate town business in a most efficient manner while always keeping an open-door policy to any and all residents of our community who wish to be heard,” said Post, who has been in that position since 2005.

He received the endorsement in a vote of the 21 committee members present at the meeting at the Town Hall on West Main Street Road.

Jim Ward, who serves on the board of directors of the Town of Batavia Fire Department, also sought the endorsement of the Town GOP.

In the only other contest for endorsement leading up to the November election, Amy DiSalvo got the nod for the town clerk position, defeating current Town Clerk Jennifer Zambito.

“I’ve always admired town government and what it does for the community,” said DiSalvo, a town resident since 2001. “It really was something that I’ve wanted to be a part of.”

An employee at Wortzman Furniture in Batavia for the past 29 years, DiSalvo said her priority, if elected, is to “work together as a team to do the best we can for the community.”

The committee also endorsed Daniel Underhill and Patti Michalak, current Town Board members; Town Justice Andrew Young, and Highway Superintendent Raymond Tourt, all uncontested.
