Christian Brunelle, Sr. Executive V.P. of Byrne Dairy, an agent for Sonbyrne Sales Inc., says he is excited to move forward after incorporating a new landscaping plan, adding more shrubbery at the property line near the gym next door, and added storm water details along with a lighting plan. The property will contain a 4,332 Sq. Ft. convenience store with automobile service pumps and canopy with 42 parking spots. The Special Use Permit was approved.

Next, the project will move to the City Zoning Board on February 27th to get approval of variances for more signage and for a service station to be located within 500′ of the entrance to a place of public assembly (the gym next door). The neighboring property to the east, Whole Life Fitness, is classified as a place of assembly.

“The City was awesome to work with, it’s nice to have a pro-business municipality to work with,” Brunelle said.

“This is the first store in Genesee County, first in the City of Batavia, it’s the furthest west we’ve gone.”

The next closest store is in Brockport. Brunelle says people can expect between 27-29 cooler doors of dairy and ice cream, soft serve ice cream for children’s baseball teams, milk glass bottles, a full line of groceries.

“We have a full deli, full sandwich line. We’ll move pretty quickly, it’s a priority store, we’d like to get in the area.”

The plan is to break ground in March and close on the property at the end of February. Demolition of current building is planned for mid-March. Brunelle says their goal is to open by August 1, 2025.
