The Mount Morris/Geneseo high school bowling team, which features several Genesee Region USBC youth members, rolled to victory in the Section V Class D Championships at Roseland Bowl in Canandaigua.
Led by brothers Matthew Neus and Daniel Neus, who averaged 215 and 209, respectively, in the tournament, the Mount Morris/Geneseo five-person squad amassed 6,039 pins for their six games. The championship team outdistanced runner-up Archangel by 838 pins.
Both Matthew and Daniel made the all-tournament team, along with teammates Riley Mantegna (1,165) and Jason Kingston (1,130). The squad is coached by Chad LaPiana.
Matthew Neus also qualified for the Division 2 composite team, coached by Jamie Masclee, which will be competing in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships this Saturday (March 15) at AMF Strike ‘N Spare Lanes in Syracuse.
Mount Morris/Geneseo placed second behind Waterloo in the overall Division 2 standings, falling short of advancing to the state team championships this weekend.

ROCHESTER BOWLERS CAPTURE RIGGI TOURNEY
The team of Steve Meyer, Dan Robinson, Rob Gustke and John Amico combined for a 3,517 total for four games to place first in the annual Ron Riggi Memorial Tournament at Le Roy Legion Lanes.
The Rochester quartet earned $800 in topping 22 other teams.
Meyer also won the singles tourney with a 947 series, pocketing $130, while Gustke and Amico also cashed.
Gustke was on the second-place squad as well, with his wife, Traci, and Brian Cline and Aaron Philp. They won $400.
Local bowlers Brian Weber, Karissa Schuster, Brady Weber and Chad Dunning placed fourth ($210) and Joe Lance, Tim Wickson, Jim Macaluso and Justin Calmes finished in fifth ($200).
GENESEE REGION ASSOCIATION EVENT NEARS
All members of the Genesee Region USBC are invited to participate in the 18th Association Tournament, which is scheduled for March 21-23, 28-30 at Le Roy Legion Lanes (team event) and Rose Garden Bowl in Bergen (doubles and singles).
First place in the Open Team division is $1,000, guaranteed. There also is a Women’s Division for all of the events.
Entry deadlines are March 15 for this first weekend, unless extended, and March 25 for the second weekend. Entry forms can be downloaded from the GRUSBC website – www.bowlgr.com.

ABC GATES BOWL TO HOST PWBA EVENT IN AUGUST
The 2025 Professional Women’s Bowling Association schedule will include a major championship at ABC Gates Bowl in Rochester: the PWBA Tour Championship Week from Aug. 5-12.
Three tournaments will take place during the week – the PWBA Rochester Open (Aug. 5-7), the PWBA Pepsi Open (Aug. 8-9) and the PWBA Tour Championship (Aug. 10-12). The Tour Championship finals will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
