Perry, NY – Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of two Yonkers residents following an investigation into the theft of used cooking oil.
On March 11th, 2025, police received a tip about the theft of used cooking oil. There has been an ongoing investigation since May of 2024, of used cooking oil thefts in the Village of Perry.
Officers were advised that suspects in a white Penske box truck were headed southbound on Route 39 after reportedly stealing used cooking oil from an establishment in the Village of Perry. The vehicle was located by a deputy of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office on Route 19a in Portageville.
Following a traffic stop by the deputy, Officer Fleiss and Officer Tucker of the Village of Perry Police Department arrived on scene and determined this was the same Penske truck that was seen leaving the Village of Perry following the theft of used cooking oil.
On March 11, 2025, Officers Fleiss and Tucker arrested Kevin I. Romero, 27, and Jose C. Marte-Regalao, 24, both of Yonkers, NY, charging them with Petit Larceny, a Class A misdemeanor.
Both Romero and Marte-Regalao were issued appearance tickets to appear in court on April 15th, 2025 at 1:00p.m. to answer the charge.
