GENESEE COUNTY/Thank you for your service, Sr. Emergency Services Dispatcher John W. Spencer

Sr. Emergency Services Dispatcher John W. Spencer with Sheriff Joseph Graff (right) and Undersheriff Bradley Mazur (left). Spencer has served as an Emergency Services Dispatcher with Genesee County for 18 and 1/2 years, before that he was a dispatcher in Monroe County for 14 years, serving a total of 33 and 1/2 years. He also served in Le Roy and Batavia before dispatching was combined.

“This lifestyle, this work gets in your blood and it’s hard to stop, so I figured I’ll just sort of wean myself out a little bit as I get older, says Spencer. I enjoy helping the people and I look at this as this is a big family, we’re an extended family, we may not get a long every now and then, but when your people need help you take care of them and you’re there for them.”
