ROCHESTER, N.Y. –\nU.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that Daryl Sumeriski, 51, of Batavia, NY, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford to possession of child pornography.\n The charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan K. McGuire, who is handling the case, stated that Sumeriski was residing in a halfway house\n in Bath, NY, when fellow residents expressed concern about certain images they observed on the defendant\u2019s cell phone and alerted authorities. As a result, a search warrant was executed and investigators found more than 3,000 images of child pornography on\n Sumeriski\u2019s phone. Some of the images depicted violent abuse of infants and toddlers.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plea is the result of an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
