At approximately 11:55p.m. on September 23, 2019 ,the City of Batavia Fire Department was dispatched to a general fire alarm at 1 Batavia City Centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
First arriving fire units were on-scene at approximately 11:58p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon arrival, firefighters began investigating and found a working kitchen fire inside of the Islands Hawaiian Grill Restaurant, located at 60 Main Street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Responding crews found an actively operating sprinkler system which helped to contain the fire while responding crews attacked the fire using a stretch hose line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the fire was contained to the kitchen area, the restaurant experienced smoke and water damage. At this time the City of Batavia\u2019s Fire Investigation team is investigating the fire to determine the origin and cause. Once a determination has been made, we will be providing an additional media release with further information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
