PRESS RELEASE

On October 5, 2019 at approximately 11:30 A.M., Troopers out of SP Albion responded to a head-on collision on State Highway 63 in the town of Shelby, Orleans County.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further investigation revealed that a U-Haul van was traveling southbound on State Highway 63 and crossed the center line striking an oncoming pickup truck.\u00a0 Both vehicles left the roadway and were consumed by fire.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operator, Charles L. Stevens, 80, of Black River, NY and the passenger Jeffrey S. Johnson, 57, of Carthage, NY were pronounced at the scene.\u00a0
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operator of the pickup truck is still being identified.\u00a0

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Shelby Volunteer Fire Company assisted in this investigation.
