{"id":12209,"date":"2019-11-12T23:39:41","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T04:39:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/?p=12209"},"modified":"2019-11-12T23:39:41","modified_gmt":"2019-11-13T04:39:41","slug":"batavia-ross-street-man-asks-for-help-with-problematic-tenants-living-next-door","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/index.php\/2019\/11\/12\/batavia-ross-street-man-asks-for-help-with-problematic-tenants-living-next-door\/","title":{"rendered":"BATAVIA\/Ross street man asks for help with problematic tenants living next-door"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"900\" height=\"507\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8ftplIm6snU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Robert Cook says he feels hopeless and does not know what to do after purchasing a house on Ross street in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After 5 months of living next to a rental property at 174 Ross street, Cook says he and his family have been subjected to daily displays of public intoxication, vulgar language, yelling, a fist fight, and obvious, but difficult to prove drug behavior. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cook found out that police have been called to 174 Ross street 24 times since 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cook decided to write to the landlord who owns the apartment house and ask if he could clean up the property and do something about the tenant&#8217;s behaviors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After receiving a letter from landlord Duane Preston, Cook says he feels insulted after getting a condescending response in return, telling Cook he should have done his due diligence before he purchased the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cook is asking City Council for guidance in the matter and asking for a systematic approach to hold landlords accountable for their tenant&#8217;s behaviors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">City Manager Dr. Martin Moore says the City is currently looking into what to do about landlords and problematic tenants after a recent Crime Task Force Meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We are looking to deal with the issue head-on.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">City Council President Eugene Jankowski and many Council members also expressed their concern with the landlord\/tenant issues in the City at Tuesday nights Batavia City Council Business meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert Cook says he feels hopeless and does not know what to do after purchasing a house on Ross street in June.
