People with any kind of disability need an advocate to be in their corner and assure that they have the same rights and considerations as their able-bodied neighbors. The area\u2019s leading human-rights organization run by, and for, people with disabilities, Independent Living of the Genesee Region<\/strong> (ILGR) in Batavia is hosting a group of such advocates and recruiting citizens to join it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\u00a0Genesee Region Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities<\/strong>\u00a0meets once a month to identify the challenges its constituency faces in areas like public access; employment; health care; voting; and education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If you or a loved one with a disability can identify areas that need to be improved, please consider joining us. The meetings are every third Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the ILGR office,\u00a0319 West Main Street in the Crickler Executive Business Center, Batavia, NY 14020.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n For everyone\u2019s safety, during the COVID-19 Coronavirus restrictions, these meetings will be conducted via the Internet.
