Press release<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 06\/18\/2020 at approximately 11:00 PM, officers were dispatched to the area of Hutchins Place and Lewis Place for a large disturbance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon arrival, patrols found several individuals fighting, with numerous different fights taking place. Some of the suspects had weapons such as knives, tasers, and bats and were allegedly threatening individuals with those items. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other suspects were allegedly throwing rocks at people and vehicles in the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After several minutes, officers were able to get the situation under control. No injuries were reported, but 2 vehicles were damaged. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A thorough investigation was conducted and concluded with the incident beginning over fireworks being thrown at one of the damaged vehicles and a residence. The parties involved have had previous issues with one another. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Batavia Police Department arrested the following individuals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eric McGill, 37, of Hutchins Pl, Batavia \u2013 1 count PL 265.02-1 \u2013 Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (A photo for Eric McGill is not available at this time)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delonta Curry, 19, of Warner St, Rochester \u2013 1 count PL 265.01-2 \u2013 Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, 1 count \u2013 PL 240.05 \u2013 Riot 2nd<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hezekiah Burch, 18, of Hutchins Pl, Batavia – 1 count PL 145.00-1 \u2013 Criminal Mischief 4th, 1 count \u2013 PL 240.05 \u2013 Riot 2nd<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J\u2019zon Richardson, 21, Oak St, Batavia – 1 count \u2013 PL 240.05 \u2013 Riot 2nd<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burch, Ryder, Richardson, Lance Sr and Louis Mercado were all issued appearance tickets, in accordance with bail reform, returnable to Batavia City Court on 07\/28\/2020 at 1:00 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curry was arraigned in Batavia City Court before Judge Rogers and released on his own recognizance. McGill was also arraigned before Judge Rogers and released under the supervision of Genesee Justice. Both Curry and McGill are to re-appear in Batavia City Court on 07\/23\/2020 at 9:00 AM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Batavia Police Department would like to thank the Genesee County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Leroy Police Department, NYS Parks Police, City of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy EMS for their assistance at the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

BPD would also like to thank the Genesee County District Attorney\u2019s Office and the citizens of Batavia for their assistance with this matter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
