Salvatore P. Scarlata, 36, of Hunt, NY, was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 246 in the Town of Covington on November 5, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scarlata was stopped at 7:21a.m. for speeding, 74MPH in a 55MPH speed zone. Scarlata was also found to be allegedly driving with a suspended driver\u2019s license for failure to pay child support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the traffic stop, Scarlata was allegedly found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scarlata performed poorly on roadside field sobriety testing at which time he was taken into custody. He was taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff\u2019s Office where a Drug Influence Evaluation was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert from the Arcade Police Department. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scarlata was found to be impaired by multiple categories of drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely. He is charged as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DWAI\/drugs, DWAI\/by the combined influence of drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd degree, speeding\/ over 55MPH, uninspected motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree, criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument, criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd degree, and unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd degree<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scarlata was issued an appearance ticket, and will answer the charges in the Town of Covington Court on November 16, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
