Valentine’s Day is just a few days away.\u00a0 Unfortunately, everyone isn’t always looking for love.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is prime time for\u00a0romance\u00a0scams.\u00a0\u00a0Romance\u00a0scams\u00a0occur when a criminal adopts a fake online identity to gain a victim\u2019s affection and trust. The\u00a0scammer then uses the illusion of a romantic or close relationship to manipulate and\/or steal from the victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you suspect an online relationship is a\u00a0scam, stop all contact immediately. If you are the victim of a\u00a0romance\u00a0scam, file a complaint with the FBI\u2019s\u00a0Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
