One adult, one child and the family dog were able to escape their burning home uninjured late Sunday evening in the Town of Bennington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nine fire companies responded to 368 Rt. 77 at 10:54p.m. for a working house fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two cats perished in the blaze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The house and the garage are a total loss, according to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services. A neighboring home also sustained exterior damage during the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The home is owned by Bruce Leroy. Mike Leroy and a daughter resided at the home. The family is being assisted by the Red Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fire crews from Bennington, Attica, Cowlesville, Strykersville, Harris Corners, North Java, Alexander, Corfu and the City of Batavia were on scene about 5 hours. No injuries reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Management, Wyoming County Sheriff’s, Red Cross and NYSEG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
