{"id":2500,"date":"2017-10-26T23:08:19","date_gmt":"2017-10-27T03:08:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/?p=2500"},"modified":"2017-10-26T23:08:19","modified_gmt":"2017-10-27T03:08:19","slug":"orleans-county-albion-correctional-facility-begins-canine-training-program-involving-inmates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/index.php\/2017\/10\/26\/orleans-county-albion-correctional-facility-begins-canine-training-program-involving-inmates\/","title":{"rendered":"ORLEANS COUNTY\/ Albion Correctional Facility begins Canine Training Program involving inmates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fSa-G3-Q9uQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Albion Correctional Facility held a ribbon cutting ceremony today to introduce a Canine Training Program at the state prison.<\/p>\n<p>The Canine Training Program will provide inmates with jobs skills for an eventual re-entry into the community and the canines will receive care, socializing and training so they can be adopted into a permanent home.<\/p>\n<p>The dogs are chosen by the Orleans County Animal Shelter and must be at least 6 months old and non aggressive.<\/p>\n<p>The Canine Training Program is an 8-12 week program where 5 inmates and a trainer will meet with at least two dogs about twice a week to work on preparing the dog for adoption.<\/p>\n<p>After the training, the dogs will be adopted out by the Animal Shelter.<\/p>\n<p>The dogs will be housed in a dorm at the Albion Correctional Facility.<\/p>\n<p>There were 35-40 inmates interested in the program, 5 were chosen.<\/p>\n<p>The program is in collaboration with the Orleans County Sheriff&#8217;s Department\/ Animal Shelter and Ebb Tide Kennels &amp; Stables.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Albion Correctional Facility held a ribbon cutting ceremony today to introduce a Canine Training Program at the state prison.
