Craven, 33, of Bliss, was arrested following a traffic stop on Garry Road in the Town of Eagle on May 5, 2021. Craven was the driver and sole occupant of a 2004 Honda Accord which was observed driving with no headlamps on during raining weather conditions. The vehicle was also observed making a wide turn, driving entirely on the left side of the roadway as it turned from Route 362 onto Garry Road.

Wyoming County Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the Honda Accord proceeded to swerve from side to side on the roadway while driving westbound and not yielding to the emergency lights and siren. The Honda Accord eventually pulled into an address on Garry Road at which time deputies approached the vehicle.

Craven was found to be the driver, and and was operating the vehicle with an identification card only with no driver’s license. The odor of an alcoholic beverage and burned cannabis were detected coming from within the vehicle during the stop. Craven performed poorly on standardized field sobriety testing. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted.

Cannabis was found throughout the vehicle, and a safe was located in the front seat containing vacuum sealed bags containing Cannabis and Psilocybin Mushrooms. A total of 65 Grams, or 2.2 ounces, of Psilocybin Mushrooms were seized, and a total of 535 Grams, or 18.87 ounces, of Cannabis were seized. Craven refused to cooperate with further testing, and he was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged as follows:

Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, with intent to sell, a class E felony, criminal possession of cannabis in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor, DWI, DWAI/drugs, driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of alcohol and/or drugs, unlicensed operation, failed to comply with lawful order, failed to keep right, and failed to use headlamps with windshield wipers.

Craven was arraigned in front of Wyoming County Court Judge Kibler and his operating privileges were suspended pending a chemical test refusal hearing. Craven was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on June 7, 2021 in the Town of Eagle Court.

******************************************

On May 7, 2021, Craven was arrested for a second time. Craven had reported to officials that deputies had broken his cell phone during arrest processing. A review of Axon body worn camera video revealed that Craven had broken his own cell phone intentionally and had then falsely reported that deputies had broken it. Craven was located at a residence in the Town of Eagle and issued an appearance ticket for the following charge:

Falsely reporting an incident in third degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Craven was released after issuance of the appearance ticket, and he is scheduled to answer this additional charge in the Town of Eagle Court on May 17, 2021.

******************************************

On April 20, 2021, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies received a complaint of ongoing harassment for a period of 8 to 9 months. The victim reported an unknown male had been calling his cell phone multiple times a day, every day, for the past 8 to 9 months, leaving voicemails which were threatening, vulgar, and inappropriate. The victim had told the unknown male to stop contacting him, however the calls persisted. A phone number for the suspect could not be given due to the suspect blocking his phone number every time he called.

Following a grand jury subpoena for the victim’s phone records, a suspect phone number was determined. A subsequent search warrant regarding the suspect phone number was conducted, and a suspect name was determined. Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies, assisted by the Village of Hamburg Police, conducted an interview at the suspect residence on Church Street in the Village of Hamburg.

Subsequently, Raymond W. Stilwell, Jr., 54 of Hamburg, NY, was taken into custody and arrested for the ongoing harassment. Stilwell was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged as follows:

Aggravated harassment in the second degree, stalking in the fourth degree.

Stilwell was arraigned in Wyoming County Court in front of Judge Mohun. A stay away order of protection was issued at arraignment and Stilwell was released from custody in compliance with bail reform laws. Stilwell is scheduled to appear in the Town of Bennington Court on June 7, 2021.

On May 2, 2021, Deputy Hope was on patrol in the area of Route 98 in the Town of Java, and a traffic stop was conducted on Peedee Road for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Joshua L Floyd, 42, of Middletown, Ohio.

During the stop, Deputy Hope suspected Floyd to be under the influence of alcohol. Floyd was requested to perform standardized field sobriety test, which he refused. Floyd was then taken into custody for DWI. A Records check showed Floyd to have a suspended driver’s license in the state of Ohio for DWI.

Floyd was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing where he refused to provide a breath sample. Floyd is charged with DWI, unlicensed operator, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to keep right, and refusal to take a breath test.

Floyd was then transported to Warsaw Town Court for the purpose of license revocation and arraignment. He was released on his own recognizance.

Sean A. Beato was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charges in the Town of Warsaw Court on May 17, 2021, and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

Matthew E.
