{"id":27586,"date":"2021-08-20T14:36:20","date_gmt":"2021-08-20T18:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/?p=27586"},"modified":"2021-08-20T14:36:20","modified_gmt":"2021-08-20T18:36:20","slug":"genesee-orleans-health-dept-covid-19-transmission-rate-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/index.php\/2021\/08\/20\/genesee-orleans-health-dept-covid-19-transmission-rate-update\/","title":{"rendered":"GENESEE\/ORLEANS\/Health Dept.\/COVID-19 transmission rate update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Press release<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NOTE: Links to data and information are included in the press release<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBoth Genesee and Orleans Counties are now in a high level of community transmission according to the CDC COVID Data Tracker (<a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#county-view\">https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#county-view<\/a>),\u201d stated Paul Pettit, Director of the Genesee and Orleans County Health Departments (GO Health). \u201cGenesee and Orleans Counties are currently at 99 active cases. We are also reporting eleven hospitalizations between the two counties, with 8 in Genesee and 3 in Orleans. All of these hospitalizations are community members across the age spectrum and not nursing home residents. The majority are unvaccinated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We encourage everyone to follow the public health prevention precautions as noted below. It is important for those who are not currently vaccinated to talk with their primary care provider to determine whether getting vaccinated is right for them. \u201cThe best way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 or health complications from COVID-19 is to get vaccinated. The vaccine is proven to be safe and effective,\u201d stated Pettit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Per the CDC recommendations for communities with high spread of COVID-19 we encourage everyone, vaccinated and unvaccinated, to wear masks when indoors in public and when at crowded outdoor settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everyone should continue practicing the following public health prevention precautions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">o Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">o Wash your hands often with soap and water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">o If water is not readily available, use hand sanitizer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">o Wash and sanitize frequently shared\/touched items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">o Stay 6 feet away from others and avoid close contact with people who are sick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">o Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">o Wear a face mask indoors in public and crowded outdoor settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">o Monitor your health daily and stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">o Get tested if you are experiencing symptoms and self-isolate until you get your results back.
