As an exciting new way to serve the GOW (Genesee, Orleans, Wyoming Counties), Independent Living of the Genesee Region (ILGR), <\/strong>is offering \u201cFood for Thought\u201d, <\/strong>a cart that has a selection of donated books that readers can take for free!<\/strong>  It\u2019s available, weekdays, during business hours, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, outside their office at 319 West Main Street, Batavia, in the Crickler Executive Business Center \u2013 and inside the Lobby during bad weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by the \u201cfree libraries\u201d that have been appearing in neighborhoods and business places, the agency put out the rolling cart, with initial stock acquired thanks to contributions by the Agency\u2019s Advisory Council.  Donations of \u201cgood to like-new\u201d books will be cheerfully accepted!  Courtesy of The Hungry Elf Co., www.thehungryelfco.com<\/a>, a custom sign declares \u201cFree!  Grab-n-go FOOD FOR THOUGHT a La Carte\u201d.  Come on down and look it over! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While many people today are thoroughly connected to technology, depending on the Internet for information and social media and other on-line sources for entertainment; ILGR realized that before we had computers and smart phones, there was a time-honored way to access these things that is still available: BOOKS!  We feel encouraging reading advances our core values of Education, Empowerment, and Equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those without the time to read a book or who have visual or other \u201cprint disabilities\u201d such as inability to hold printed material, our fellow Western New York Independent Living (WNYIL)<\/strong> agency, the Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service<\/strong> has volunteers reading newspapers, periodicals, best-selling fiction and non-fiction books, 24 hours per day.
