{"id":30434,"date":"2022-02-03T16:47:47","date_gmt":"2022-02-03T21:47:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/?p=30434"},"modified":"2022-02-03T16:47:47","modified_gmt":"2022-02-03T21:47:47","slug":"wyoming-county-female-officer-sexually-assaulted-by-inmate-at-attica-correctional-facility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/index.php\/2022\/02\/03\/wyoming-county-female-officer-sexually-assaulted-by-inmate-at-attica-correctional-facility\/","title":{"rendered":"WYOMING COUNTY\/Female officer sexually assaulted by inmate at Attica Correctional Facility"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Several Officers and Civilian Staff Injured in Incident &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em><u>For Immediate Release<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\/Press release<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>February 3, 2022<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Attica, NY<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0A 38-year-old\u00a0inmate, who is serving a 19-year sentence for robbery, grabbed a female officer several times in the groin area and fought with officers who attempted to stop him at the maximum-security correctional facility yesterday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The assault occurred as inmates were leaving a COVID testing site held in the facility chapel. \u00a0The inmate exited the chapel and grabbed the female officer in the groin.\u00a0 The officer, along with two officers at the scene, \u00a0grabbed the inmate\u2019s arms and forced him against the wall.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still resisting the three officers, the inmate reached around and grabbed the female officer\u2019s groin again.\u00a0 The three officers forced the inmate to the floor.\u00a0 The inmate fell on top of the female officer causing her to hit her head on the floor.\u00a0\u00a0On the ground, the inmate continued to sexually assault the female officer.\u00a0 He grabbed her chest and pulled her hair while struggling with the officers.\u00a0 Two civilian instructors assisted the officers in controlling the inmate\u2019s legs and torso until additional staff arrived and were able to place handcuffs on him.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once in handcuffs, the inmate became compliant.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The inmate was escorted from the chapel area.&nbsp; During the escort, &nbsp;the inmate kicked one of the officers in the leg.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The inmate, who was convicted of Robbery 1<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;and 3<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;in Queens County in 2011, was placed in a Special Housing Unit pending disciplinary charges.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The female officer sustained a head injury and was transported to Buffalo General Hospital for treatment.&nbsp; She did not return to duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two officers were treated by facility medical staff for knee, wrist and thumb injuries.
