On Tuesday, January 10, 2017, Bradley J. Broadbent, 37, formerly of Batavia,<\/div>\n
was found guilty after a 3 day jury trial in Wyoming County Court of one count each of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Wyoming County Court Judge Michael M. Mohun presided over the trial.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The charges stem from the defendant\u2019s possession and then sale of 13 bags of heroin,<\/div>\n
laced with the horse tranquilizer Xylazine, to a Confidential Informant in the<\/div>\n
Village of Perry on January 14, 2016.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Following the verdict, the defendant was remanded without bail to the custody of the Wyoming County Jail.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
His sentencing has been scheduled for February 23, 2017.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Due to Broadbent’s significant criminal history, both of these Class B Felony<\/div>\n
convictions could potentially result in a maximum sentence of 15 years in state<\/div>\n
prison followed by 3 years of Post-Release Supervision.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eric R. Schiener<\/div>\n
and the defendant was represented by Assistant Public Defender Leah R. Nowotarski.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The District Attorney\u2019s Office would like to commend the hard work and determination of the Wyoming County Drug Task Force that resulted in<\/div>\n
the apprehension and successful prosecution of the defendant.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
ADA Schiener stated,\u201cToday\u2019s convictions represent just one small measure<\/div>\n
of District Attorney Donald O\u2019Geen\u2019s resolute and concentrated efforts to combat the<\/div>\n
scourge of heroin and other opioids in Wyoming County.\u201d<\/div>\n

Schiener added,\u201cThanks to the commitment and dedication of both the Drug Task Force and District Attorney O\u2019Geen, there is now one less purveyor of<\/div>\n
