On 8\/19\/2022, the Batavia Police Detective Bureau arrested Jeremy Ives, 47, at the Genesee County Courthouse after an investigation into a shooting near 2 Elm street that was reported on 8\/12\/2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ives is charged with two counts of attempted assault in the first degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, kidnapping in the second degree, criminal use of a firearm in the first and second degree and menacing in the second degree. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 8\/12\/2022, it is alleged that Ives fired a single shot, injuring two persons. Detectives believe the weapon used was a shotgun, which Ives\u00a0is alleged to have been in possession of unlawfully. One of the victims was transported to the hospital, where they were treated and later released. The other victim was treated on scene and released. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the shooting, Ives\u00a0fled the scene in a vehicle with other passengers. It is alleged that one of those passengers attempted to exit the vehicle multiple times, however, Ives\u00a0threatened the passenger, preventing their escape.\u00a0 The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, however, it appears that Ives and at least one of the victims know each other.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ives was arraigned in Batavia City Court before Judge Rogers and was remanded to the Genesee County Jail without bail. Ives is scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Batavia Police Detective Bureau would like to thank the public for their\u00a0assistance in providing information regarding the shooting. The Batavia Police Department\u00a0would also like to thank the Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center, the City of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy EMS for their assistance on scene as well as the Erie County Crime Analysis Center and Unified Court Security personnel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
