{"id":355,"date":"2017-01-11T02:42:48","date_gmt":"2017-01-11T02:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/?p=355"},"modified":"2017-01-11T02:46:52","modified_gmt":"2017-01-11T02:46:52","slug":"staffordtown-board-calls-for-moratorium-on-solar-energy-farms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/videonewsservice.net\/index.php\/2017\/01\/11\/staffordtown-board-calls-for-moratorium-on-solar-energy-farms\/","title":{"rendered":"Stafford\/Town Board calls for moratorium on solar energy farms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V5pC2IZAzt4\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div id=\"watch-uploader-info\"><strong class=\"watch-time-text\">Published on Jan 10, 2017<\/strong><\/div>\n<div id=\"watch-description-text\" class=\"watch-editable\"><\/div>\n<p>The Stafford Town Board voted 5-0 to send a proposed moratorium on solar panel energy farms to the the town&#8217;s Planning Board for discussion on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>The six month moratorium will give the Town of Stafford time to study solar panel energy farms and what zoning laws will need to be put in place.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are companies I guess that are doing some informal surveying,&#8221; says Robert Clement, Stafford Town Supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t know that they have signed anybody, but we have no language on our books to deal with it, so that&#8217;s why we are instituting a moratorium and that stops anything while we get our act together as far as having a local law to deal with it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In May of 2016, the Town of Wheatfield enacted a moratorium on ground mounted solar panels and solar farms.<\/p>\n<p>In November of 2016, the Town of Sweden also voted in a moratorium on the construction of solar power farms and commercial solar power projects.<\/p>\n<p>According to Clement, Stafford&#8217;s proposed moratorium will affect large solar energy farms, not someone looking to put solar panels on their house.<\/p>\n<p>After the Town Planning Board looks at the proposed moratorium it will be sent to the County Planning Board and then a public hearing will be scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>The whole process should take about a few month says Clement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Published on Jan 10, 2017 The Stafford Town Board voted 5-0 to send a proposed moratorium on solar panel energy farms to the the town&#8217;s Planning Board for discussion on Monday night.
