On September 12, 2022, at approximately 11:50 PM, the Genesee County Dispatch Center received a call from an observant citizen about people being inside Ken Barrett\u2019s Chevrolet, located at 229 W. Main Street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers from the Batavia Police Department arrived and encountered four individuals fleeing out the back of the business. Two of the suspects, Darnell Cleveland, 26, and Kanyia Coleman,18, of Buffalo, NY, were taken into custody by Batavia Police while trying to escape from police in the Tonawanda creek in thigh high water. The other two suspects, Craig Lynch Jr., 21, and Nyejay Braction,18, also from Buffalo, were taken into custody close to the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n

Darnell Cleveland<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Cleveland provided a false name in an attempt to prevent officers from arresting him on several outstanding warrants, including a parole warrant. Lynch struggled with officers while being detained. No injuries occurred. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cleveland is charged with burglary 3rd degree and criminal impersonation 2nd degree. <\/p>\n\n\n

Lynch is charged with burglary 3rd degree, obstructing governmental administration 2nd degree, and resisting arrest. Braction and Coleman were each charged with burglary 3rd degree. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All four suspects were arraigned before Judge Rogers in Batavia City Court on September 13, 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In accordance with NYS bail reform, Cleveland and Lynch were released under the supervision of Genesee Justice and Cleveland was remanded to the Genesee County Jail on his outstanding parole warrant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Braction and Coleman were released on their own recognizance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Batavia Police Department would like to thank the observant citizen, the Genesee County Sheriff\u2019s Office, and New York State Parole for their assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
