On Thursday, September 15, 2022, Craig Poler, a 34-year-old former resident of Castile, NY, was sentenced to 20 years in New York State Prison with 10 years of post-release supervision by the Honorable Michael M. Mohun, for the crime of course sexual conduct against a child in the first degree, a class B felony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith this defendant getting the maximum sentence under the plea bargain, he will either be in prison or under the supervision of parole for the next 30 years. Wyoming County should be proud of the work that the Wyoming County Department of Child Protective Services did on this case. That unit works around the clock investigating child abuse and child sexual assault cases and often goes unnoticed for the good work that they do. All of us within the criminal justice system will never stop fighting to bring these predators to justice,\u201d said Wyoming County District Attorney Donald G. O\u2019Geen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, July 14, 2022, Craig Poler, a 34-year former resident of Castile, NY, pleaded guilty before the Honorable Michael M. Mohun to COURSE OF SEXUAL CONDUCT AGAINST A CHILD IN THE FIRST DEGREE, a Class \u201cB\u201d felony. Poler admitted engaging in multiple acts of sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13 between January 14, 2020, and January 4, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the plea agreement, Poler faces a sentence of between 15 years and 20 years in New York State Prison and 10 years of post-release supervision. In addition, Poler will have to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life. Sentencing was adjourned until September 15, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. After pleading guilty, Judge Mohun revoked his previously posted bail of $300,000.00 and ordered him held without bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poler was arrested by the Wyoming County Sheriff\u2019s Office \u2013 Criminal Investigation Division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
