The 100,000 square foot County Jail has184 beds and will house men and women and is located on 20 acres. According to planners, it will be completed in Spring of 2024. The old jail, located at 14 West Main street in the City of Batavia, was built in 1902 and was expanded in 1984-85 and does not hold women. It is a medium security level County Jail and has a capacity of\u00a087 inmates.<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Total cost for the new jail project is $57.27 million and the process has taken over 5 years. The new jail was mandated by New York State.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
