omnibus legislation includes $2.5 in funding for the new police headquarters and community complex to be constructed on Bank Street and Alva Place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;As a retired Batavia Police Lieutenant, I&#8217;m keenly aware of the importance of replacing the outdated 1850\u2019s era police building with a modern purpose-built police facility.\u00a0\u00a0The new building will be a huge asset to our police force and help them to better serve the members of our community.\u00a0\u00a0Thank you to Senator Chuck critically important funding for a new police headquarters,\u201d said Batavia City Manager Rachael Tabelski.&nbsp; \u201cThey both understood how important this funding was to our efforts to build a modern and welcoming facility that will be an integral part of community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The City estimates that the cost to build a new police department will be approximately $13 \u2013 15 million.&nbsp; The 19,000 square foot facility will be constructed on city owned property on and would provide connectivity and enhance the area between City Centre and the emerging Medical Campus.&nbsp; Once completed, there would be 115 public parking spots available in nearby lots, in addition to free public parking on surrounding streets to serve the needs of existing businesses on Washington, Alva and State Streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"502\"
