<\/p>\nOn March 18, 2018, at approximately 12:59 p.m., State Police in Machias arrested Heather E. Gearman,32, of Chaffee, NY, under Leandra’s Law for DWI, criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.<\/p>\n

Troopers stopped Gearman with her 5 month old daughter on Liberty Street\u00a0 in the Village of Arcade, for speeding and crossing over the center line multiple times. Gearman was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests.\u00a0 After a search of Gearman’s vehicle, troopers located multiple amphetamin\/dextroamphetamine dosage units. She was transported to the State Police Barracks in Machias for processing where she also provided a urine sample.<\/p>\n
