The Wyoming County Sheriff\u2019s Office is pleased to announce two members who were recently awarded for their efforts in DWI Enforcement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 2, 2023, Mothers Against Drunk Driving [MADD] New York, the Governor\u2019s Traffic Safety Committee [GTSC], and STOP DWI held their Annual New York State Law Enforcement Recognition Awards Luncheon in Albany, NY. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sergeant Aaron Chase and Deputy Justin Bliss were recognized at the event for their efforts in DWI Enforcement in 2022. Sergeant Aaron Chase was awarded the \u201cDrug Recognition Expert [DRE] Award\u201d. This award is awarded to active DREs for their outstanding performance in conducting drug influence evaluations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sergeant Chase has been a Drug Recognition Expert since 2015, and since that time he has conducted 296 drug influence evaluations. Sergeant Chase has actively promoted the enforcement of drug and alcohol impaired driving to police officers throughout Wyoming County, and he has played a vital role in the training of new deputy sheriffs in the enforcement of drug and alcohol impaired driving. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputy Justin Bliss was awarded the \u201cRecognition of Excellence Top Individual Award\u201d. This award is awarded to police officers for their outstanding performance in the enforcement of drug and alcohol impaired driving. Deputy Justin Bliss, who has also been certified as a Drug Recognition Expert since 2021, led the Wyoming County Sheriff\u2019s Office in DWI arrests in 2022. Deputy Justin Bliss has also completed 54 drug influence evaluations since his DRE certification in 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
