The Wyoming County Sheriff\u2019s Office responded to Dunbar Road in the Town of Attica for the report of a vehicle in the ditch on April 12, 2018.<\/p>\n
An Attica Police Officer responded to the scene and arrived first to assist while Attica Fire Department members attempted to render aid to the driver, David F. Woods Jr., 46, of Olean, N.Y.<\/p>\n
Woods refused medical treatment.<\/p>\n
While awaiting the arrival of deputies, the Attica Police Officer, Karl Zufall, was punched in the face by Woods.<\/p>\n
The Attica Officer deployed a Taser on Woods, and a struggle then ensued.<\/p>\n
Members of Attica Fire Department assisted the Attica Police Officer in taking Woods into custody.<\/p>\n
Upon the arrival of deputies, Sgt. Colin Reagan and Inv. Aaron Anderson, Woods was placed under arrest and walked to a marked Wyoming County Sheriff\u2019s Office patrol vehicle. While attempting to place Woods in the rear seat, Woods forcefully kicked the Attica Police Officer\u2019s knee causing physical injury to his knee. Woods was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff\u2019s Office for processing where he refused to take a chemical test.<\/p>\n
Woods is charged with\u00a0 assault 2nd, attempted assault 3rd, obstructing governmental administration 2nd, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of marihuana, DWI, refusal of breath test, speed not reasonable and prudent, moving from a lane unsafely and failure to keep right.<\/p>\n
Woods was arraigned in the Town of Attica Court where bail was set in the amount of $25,000.00 cash bail or $50,000.00 bond. Woods is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Attica Court on May 7, 2018 for further proceedings.<\/p>\n
