A neighbor discovered a barn fire a little after 4:00a.m. on Thursday morning and called 9-1-1 in the Town of Java.<\/p>\n
Four fire companies, Strykersville, Arcade, North Java and Sheldon, all responded to the scene at 5834 Rt. 98 to find a 48′ by 50′ barn that was totally involved.<\/p>\n
The owners of the barn, Bruce and Paula Catlin, lost many antique vehicles as well as tools, lawnmowers and a recreational vehicle<\/p>\n
Fire crews were able to keep the damage to a nearby house to a minimum and were on scene for about 4.5 hours.<\/p>\n
Also assisting on scene was Wyoming County Emergency Management, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department and NYS Police and Strykersville Squad 10.<\/p>\n
