BATAVIA, NY \u2013 GLOW With Your Hands: Manufacturing<\/em> hosted over 1,000 students from 30 GLOW region school districts at the Genesee County Fairgrounds to attend the day-long, hands-on workforce event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students from school districts in Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties engage with employers throughout the event, exploring careers that could unveil new opportunities they may not have previously considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geneseo High School Sophomore Cheyenne Sargent attended GLOW With Your Hands after seeing many of her older classmates participate in previous events to experience the interactive setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is inspiring to see the number of businesses and representatives who are passionate about sharing their professional experience with us, a lot of students do not know what career they want to pursue, and this helped me get an idea of what companies are a part of the community,\u201d said Sargent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 70 businesses provided hands-on activities and simulations in the advanced manufacturing, agriculture, food production, skilled trades sectors as well as the various branches of the military. Students learned about career opportunities in their own backyard that offer good-paying opportunities immediately after high school graduation, as well as accelerated training programs available in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
