Batavia, NY \u2014 April 12, 2025 \u2014 H.E. Turner & Co., Inc. Funeral Home of Batavia, New York was honored to represent the funeral service profession and the families it serves at the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) Advocacy Summit, held April 9\u201311, 2025, in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steven L. Johnson, partner and funeral director at H.E. Turner & Co., Inc., participated in the summit as the only funeral firm from the State of New York, joining approximately 200 funeral professionals from across the country who came together to advocate on behalf of the NFDA\u2019s 20,000 members nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of the summit, attendees collectively held around 300 meetings with legislators, senators, and their staffs\u2014amplifying the voice of funeral service professionals and the families they support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his time in Washington, Mr. Johnson met with the legislative staffs of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY24)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Rep. George Latimer (D-NY16)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Johnson and other NFDA advocates championed support for a number of bipartisan bills, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– H.R. 4275 \/ S.2191 \u2013 The Consensual Donation and Research Integrity Act<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– H.R. 2436 \u2013 The Funeral Coverage Act of 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– S.1116 \/ H.R. 647 \u2013 The Ensuring Veterans\u2019 Final Resting Place Act of 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– H.R. 1344 \u2013 The Dennis and Lois Krisfalusy Act<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– H.R. 1228 \u2013 The Prioritizing Veterans’ Survivors Act<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– S.587 \u2013 The Death Tax Repeal Act<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– S.623 \/ H.R. 1415 \u2013 The No IRIS Act of 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n
