Sheriff Christopher Bourke announces the arrest of a Holley man following an incident today at the Orleans County Mental Health Building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 30th, at 11:47 am, Deputy John Doyle received an alarm from the Mental Health Building. Upon arrival, Deputy Doyle was advised by staff outside that an individual was in the lobby stating he had a bomb. Deputy Doyle maintained a visual as additional Deputies and Command staff arrived. The individual, later identified as Daniel T. Morehead, age 30, of Holley NY, was given command to exit the building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morehead was ordered out of the lobby, ordered to remove the vest \/ carrier which he had strapped to his body, ordered onto the ground where Deputies took him into custody. Morehead was extremely agitated and combative with Deputies, including kicking Lt. Steve Fox in the hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Orleans County Sheriff\u2019s Drone Unit was on scene and was able to zoom in close and determine that the possibility of a threat did exist from the items visible in the bag. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Bomb Unit responded to the scene. By using an x-ray device, the contents of the bag were examined. The items consisted of WD-40, Batteries, wires and other miscellaneous items. (Provided photo)<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

ATTEMPTED ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HARASSMENT 2ND DEGREE<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morehead was transported to the Orleans County Jail and is awaiting arraignment in C.A.P. Court this evening AT 7:00PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Orleans County Sheriff\u2019s Office was assisted by the NYS Police, the Albion Police, the Orleans County Emergency Management, Orleans County Probation Department, the NYS D.E.C Police and the Monroe County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orleans County Mental Health was evacuated during this incident and a large perimeter established for everyone\u2019s\u2019 safety. The Sheriff\u2019s Office would like to thank the assisting agencies, the county employees, management staff and the public for their patience during this nearly four-hour event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
