Perry, NY – Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of a Pike resident following a DWI investigation by the Perry Police Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 20th, 2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Officer Cross conducted a traffic stop on South Main Street for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. Upon interacting with the suspect, 25-year-old Austin T. Hartman, Officer Cross suspected Hartman of allegedly being intoxicated while having two young children in the vehicle. It was also found that Hartman was driving on a revoked NYS driver\u2019s license. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officer Cross asked Hartman to submit to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he complied. Hartman performed the tests poorly and was subsequently arrested on the below charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charges:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vehicle and Traffic Law- 1192-3 DWI-Common law (Misdemeanor)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vehicle and Traffic Law- 11922-AA – Aggravated DWI BAC .18% of 1% or higher (Misdemeanor)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vehicle and Traffic Law- 11922-AB – Leandra\u2019s law DWI (felony) (2 counts)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vehicle and Traffic Law- 511-3(a) – Aggravated unlicensed operator in the first degree (Felony)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vehicle and Traffic Law- 509-1 – Unlicensed operator (Violation)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vehicle and Traffic Law- 3752(a)3 – No\/insufficient tail lamp (Violation)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Penal Law- 260.10 – Endangering the welfare of a child (Misdemeanor) (2 counts)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hartman was transported to the Perry Police Department where he did voluntarily submit to a chemical breath test to determine his blood alcohol content (BAC). The test revealed that Hartman had a BAC of .18%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hartman was arraigned by Judge Wolcott in the Perry Village Court and was released to a sober third party. Hartman is to appear in the Perry Village Court on 10\/07\/2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officer Cross was assisted by Officer Langless of the Perry Police Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
