BATAVIA, NY\u2014<\/strong>The Batavia City School District is proud to announce that John Kennedy Intermediate has been recognized by Solution Tree as a Promising Practices Professional Learning Community (PLC) at Work<\/em>\u00ae<\/sup><\/em> for its success in strengthening teaching and learning through collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PLCs are schools and districts where educators work together to improve student learning by focusing on their own continuous growth. The model centers on three big ideas that guide the work of a PLC:

1. A focus on learning for all students<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. A culture of teamwork among educators<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. A results-driven approach that uses evidence to improve instruction<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Kennedy Intermediate was recognized for building a strong foundation around these principles and for showing measurable progress in student achievement. Educators at the school have embraced the PLC process by setting shared goals, aligning essential learning standards, and supporting one another to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis recognition is a proud moment for everyone at John Kennedy,\u201d said Principal Paul Kesler. \u201cOur teachers and staff have worked with focus and care to build a strong learning community centered on collaboration and continuous improvement. Their teamwork and dedication are what make JK so special.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDeveloping professional learning communities is a key priority within our district\u2019s Strategic Plan,\u201d said Dr. Molly Corey, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction. \u201cJohn Kennedy\u2019s work represents what we strive for across all schools, with educators collaborating, reflecting on student learning, and using that insight to guide instruction. This recognition affirms the positive impact that kind of teamwork has on our students.\u201d

Superintendent Jason Smith added, \u201cThis recognition is something our entire Batavia community can celebrate. I\u2019m so proud of the John Kennedy staff for the heart, effort, and collaboration they show each day on behalf of our students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its recognition letter, Solution Tree commended John Kennedy Intermediate for its dedicated implementation of PLC practices, a strong mission and vision, and clear alignment of essential learning standards across grade levels. The Evidence of Effectiveness Committee praised the staff\u2019s teamwork and commitment to student growth as key factors in earning this recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Promising Practices schools are listed on AllThingsPLC.info<\/a>, where they share their practices, structures, and results with other educators.
